The Western Washington Financial Advisors Network is a group of advisors that came together to educate the public on the importance and value of working with local, fee-only, independent, fiduciary advisors.
Our advisors all own and run their businesses independent of the Western Washington Financial Advisors Network yet have a shared commitment to comprehensive and highly competent financial planning.

Katy Cook

Katy Cook decided to change careers and go into financial planning after creating her parents’ retirement plan. She saw firsthand the peace of mind that comes with having a roadmap to guide investing and spending decisions.
Katy helps women, their families, and anyone historically underserved by the financial industry use money to live the life they want. She enjoys helping people explore financial scenarios and understand the long-term impact of small (and large) choices.
Prior to being a financial planner, Katy spent a decade in teaching and independent consulting focused on “data for do-gooders.” She completed a BS in Mathematics at the University of Texas at Austin and a financial planning certificate with Boston University. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Princeton University, where she was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow.
Amy Barnes

Amy has spent 20 years in financial services, from Wall Street to the San Francisco Bay, and now calls the greater Seattle area home.
Having seen the good, the bad, and the ugly across her industry, working at traditional brokerage firms, investment banks, and large asset managers, she believes there is no better way to serve clients than as an independent fiduciary.
Amy currently lives in Redmond, WA, with her family. In her spare time, when not busy chasing her kids around in matching super-hero capes, she enjoys writing and learning tennis. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, with a Bachelor of Arts in the College of Letters, and holds her Certified Investment Management Analyst designation from the Wharton School of Business.
She is Series 65 licensed and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional.
Joe Wride

Over the course of his career – Joe has worn a lot of different hats within financial services, worked with different kinds of people who have had varying degrees of wealth and status. In life and in career, Joe started at the basement floor and worked his way up. This provides him with a unique ability to listen to, empathize with, and communicate with a wide variety of people and their circumstances. And in today’s crazy and modern world, an adaptive background and experience helps him deliver truly holistic advice to his diverse set of clients.
At Crafted Finance, you don’t have to be rich, conventional, or exhibit certain traits to be welcomed as a client. Over the years, Joe has become adept at helping clients navigate their real estate transactions, run their business, manage their equity compensation decisions, and/or raise their family. Most of all, he keeps you focused on pursuing your version of an ideal life while helping you implement best practices along the way.
Joe is a resident of West Seattle with his wife, daughter, and dog; and their home is licensed to foster children in need of indefinite shelter. He loves to play golf with friends, hike in the mountains, attend as many fun sporting events as possible, and skateboard on the beach.

Lorri DeFoor

Lorri started working as a teacher in 2009, and throughout her teaching career she watched countless 403(b) salespeople traveling through teachers’ lounges, selling terrible investment products to unsuspecting colleagues. With a plan to serve teachers better, she launched Sustain Financial Inc. in 2017. Since then, her expertise in navigating the state’s retirement and insurance options has led her to branch out her practice to serve other public service employees as well.
After 14 years in the classroom and 5 years spent running her financial planning business alongside a part-time teaching job, in early 2023, she parted ways with public education and now puts her full attention towards working to help teachers and state workers make the best financial decisions possible. She’s well versed in the nuances of the PERS, SERS, TRS and LEOFF systems, and serves teachers and other public servants at all career stages throughout Washington State.
Lorri loves a good home or yard improvement project; growing, cooking, and eating great food; and hanging out with her dog Lucy. When she’s not working, she can typically be found skiing at White Pass in the winter, or hiking, camping, kayaking, and golfing in the summer.
Tom McLean

Tom has been interested in financial planning and investing from a young age. When he was about 10, his grandfather showed him how to read the stock data in the business section of his local newspaper, The Marion Star. When he was 14, this same grandfather gave him a subscription to the financial magazine, Smart Money, and then just after he graduated from college, he arranged a meeting with his financial advisor to open his first IRA.
Tom McLean is the Founder of Advitica Financial Planning, a Fee-Only, fiduciary firm. He has a master’s degree in Personal Financial Planning, and he is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) Professional. Tom launched his own firm to provide clients with smart, thoughtful planning to help them simplify their lives, actualize their goals and live with less stress and worry. He especially enjoys helping people prepare for and plan during their retirement years and create tax efficient charitable giving strategies. Tom lives in Olympia, Washington with his family and serves clients locally and throughout the country.
In his free time, Tom likes growing things in his garden like Brussels Sprouts, garlic, and Chimayo Peppers. When he can get away, he loves hiking in the Olympics, and when he gets back to the east coast, the Appalachian Trail, which he thru-hiked in 1999. He also enjoys attending his daughter’s youth orchestra concerts with the Student Orchestras of Greater Olympia.
Danika Waddell

Danika’s focus is on women (and their partners) in the early to middle stages of their careers. Specifically, she loves helping clients who receive equity compensation as part of their income. She has experience navigating IPOs and managing RSUs, ISOs, NQSOs and ESPPs.
She’s not overly focused on investment performance, nor does she deliver a massive financial plan which might be better used as a doorstop. In Danika’s view, financial planning is a highly dynamic process, with many moving pieces that are constantly in flux. At Xena FP, she works with her clients on an ongoing basis, to help them navigate whatever life delivers. She strives to both educate and empower clients as well as develop a collaborative relationship.
While originally from Western New York, Danika has lived in Seattle for 20 years. Along with her husband, their chaotic household includes two daughters plus two cats and a puppy. They are huge travelers and are happiest when planning their next overseas adventure. Current trips are on hiatus, but Danika also loves cross-country skiing in the Methow and tossing a frisbee.
